In case of green card through investment, you have to invest at least $500,000 into the US economy and create jobs; and this process is pretty complex in addition to being expensive. Refugees have to meet a series of criteria that prove that their well-being is being threatened and spend years outside of the United States in order to receive their permission for apply for a green card. Asylum seekers are in very similar position, except they enjoy the benefit of being within the US; nevertheless, they have to prove that their lives are in danger if they return home and have to wait lengthy periods of time to qualify.
Marriage to a US citizen, on the other hand, creates a legal condition that immediately qualifies the immigrant to seek and apply for a green card. As soon as you get married to a US citizen, a green card through marriage is immediately available for you because this category of green cards does not have annual limitations on the number of granted petitions. Such caps (defined and managed by the priority date) may create unusually long green card processing times for other categories of green cards, which may run for decades.
